Support for the Trans community in South Africa

About the project:
HRT Fund Joburg is a mutual aid fund based in Johannesburg centred around generating funding for trans people in need of gender affirming care as a result of USSAID funding cuts. USAID programs in South Africa provided funding for HIV/AIDS care, prevention and treatment, gender affirming care, as well as promote basic education and combat gender-based violence. These funds since recent events due to President Trump have however, have been cut. Therefore access to HRT (hormone replacement therapy) have been scarce. These are basic needs needed by our community.
Thus, every first Thursday of the month they will host an event where they donate all the money made by door sales to raise funds for trans people seeking gender affirming as well as funds for HRT costs. At these events they also book queer, femme and trans DJ’s as a means to platform them and showcase their skills and talent.
